Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of charteredstrategy.com (the "Site") and the consulting services offered by Chartered Strategy (the "Service"). Chartered Strategy is a trade name of Canvas Ethos LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"). By using the Site or engaging the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing the Site or engaging Chartered Strategy as a client, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. You must be 18 years of age or older and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site or engage the Service.
2. Description of the Service
Chartered Strategy provides educational and consulting services regarding credit card rewards, points, miles, signup bonus optimization, and award travel redemption strategy. Engagements include the Strategy Charter (one-time), the Chartered Strategist retainer (ongoing), and Standalone Redemption Strategy (single-trip). Specific deliverables, timelines, and fees for each engagement are described on the Site and confirmed in a written engagement letter before work begins.
3. Not a Regulated Advisor or Agent
Chartered Strategy is not a registered investment advisor, financial advisor, fiduciary, credit counselor, tax professional, attorney, insurance broker, or licensed travel agency. We are not regulated by the SEC, FINRA, any state securities regulator, the IRS as a tax preparer, any state bar association, or any state travel-seller registry. Nothing on the Site or in any communication from Chartered Strategy constitutes investment, tax, legal, insurance, or fiduciary advice or a recommendation regarding any security, financial product, or insurance product. You should consult qualified licensed professionals for advice specific to your situation.
4. Use of the Site
You may use the Site only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the Site in any way that violates applicable law or regulation
- Scrape, copy, harvest, or systematically extract content from the Site for commercial purposes without our written permission
- Use any automated means to access the Site beyond ordinary search engine and AI crawler indexing
- Interfere with or disrupt the Site, its servers, or networks connected to the Site
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Site, related systems, or other accounts
- Use the Site to transmit any harmful code, virus, or malicious content
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or entity
5. Intellectual Property
The Site, including its text, graphics, images, logos, design, and all other content, is owned by Canvas Ethos LLC or its licensors and is protected by United States and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes. All other rights are reserved.
The "Chartered Strategy" name, related logos, and any associated branding are trademarks of Canvas Ethos LLC. Unauthorized use is prohibited.
6. Client engagements
Engagements between Chartered Strategy and a client are governed by a separate written engagement letter that specifies scope, fees, payment terms, deliverables, and engagement duration. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and an engagement letter, the engagement letter controls for that engagement.
Recommendations made by Chartered Strategy are based on information the client provides. Recommendations are personal to that client and should not be relied upon by any other party. Clients are solely responsible for their own decisions to apply for credit cards, make purchases, transfer points, or book travel.
7. Affiliate links and disclosure
The Site, our newsletter, and certain client communications contain affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link and take a qualifying action (such as being approved for a credit card), Chartered Strategy may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. 8. Third-party links and services
The Site contains links to third-party websites and services not owned or controlled by us. We are not responsible for the content, terms, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party sites. Your interactions with third-party providers (including credit card issuers, transfer partners, hotel programs, and airlines) are solely between you and that third party.
9. Disclaimers
The Site and the Service are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chartered Strategy disclaims all warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, or uninterrupted availability.
We do not warrant that any specific yield, redemption value, travel outcome, signup bonus approval, or credit card application result will be achieved. Award availability, transfer bonuses, point valuations, issuer rules, and program terms change continuously and are outside our control. Past redemption outcomes described on the Site are illustrative and do not guarantee future results.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chartered Strategy, Canvas Ethos LLC, and their owners, officers, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of points, miles, cashback, signup bonuses, travel value, profits, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising from your use of the Site or the Service.
Our aggregate liability for any direct damages arising from or relating to an engagement shall not exceed the fees paid by the client to Chartered Strategy for that engagement in the 12 months preceding the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation of certain damages, in which case these limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Chartered Strategy, Canvas Ethos LLC, and their owners, officers, contractors, and affiliates from any claim, liability, damage, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorney fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. The exclusive venue for any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
13. Dispute Resolution
Before initiating any formal legal action, the parties agree to attempt to resolve the dispute in good faith through informal negotiation by emailing [email protected] with a written description of the dispute and a proposed resolution. If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days, either party may proceed to formal legal action consistent with Section 12. This section does not constitute a mandatory arbitration clause, and either party retains the right to seek redress in court.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including breach of these Terms. Provisions that by their nature survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Material changes affecting active client engagements will be communicated by email. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
